Just finished with morning rounds and the doctors are very encouraged. Eva spent last night reading about Cystic Fibrosis and is concerned that Kristian might have CFF (he was tested as a newborn for this and the results were negative - but tests get better). Either way, whether he has (god forbid) CFF or not, it would not change what is being done right now to get Kristian better.

So they are going to start feeding him again as they have repositioned his feeding tube so it will not suck all of his yummy food right out of him before he gets a chance to digest it (through all of this, the only thing that has been affected has been Kristian's lungs - all other organs and systems have remained strong and seemingly healthy).

The big thing they are going to do today (right now in fact) is to flip him so he is resting on his back instead of his stomach. If he tolerates that (he didn't the last time they flipped him) and remains steady for 2 hours, then they are going to deparalyze him and bring him a little more into the land of the concious (he will still be heavily sedated but he will no longer be paralyzed - which would present longer term potential harm).

Keep you fingers crossed and hope that he can handle being on his back.

Best,
Scott

Scott, Eva, and Kristian,
My family and I continue to keep you in our prayers. Thank you for keeping us updated. I have been thinking how fortunate we are to be in this wonderful city and to have Children's hospital right around the corner. I know that Kristian is in the best hands. Kristian is surrounded by the love of God, family, friends as well as many people who have never met him. I hope he finds comfort in this love. I am so glad to hear that the plan is to bring him back to a concious level. Remember when he was a baby and he would smile in his sleep? My prayer is that you and Eva see that smile soon.

Scott and Eva, I'm Josie Oria's big sister... I've been living in Argentina for the last five years. Just wanted you to know that you've got at least one person praying for you and your family in Argentina! Just got an update from my sis Barbie saying that Kristian has left the ICU -- hoping for a speedy, full recovery!
Best regards, Veronica Caminos
