5 Steps to Steaming a Face with Essential Organic

When steaming your face with essential organic oils, know that the type of oil you use will depend on your skin and the results you’re looking for.

If you have sensitive skin, choose an oil that helps soothe inflammation, such as chamomile or lavender. Try a lightweight essential oil like jojoba or almond oil for those with normal to combination skin. And opt for heavier oils such as avocado or rosehip seed oil for dry or mature skin.

Once you have prepared all the necessary items for steaming your face, there are a few key steps to follow.!

•   Start by adding a small amount of boiling water to a bowl and then allowing it to cool slightly until it is only warm – not hot – to the touch.

•   Add 1-3 drops of essential organic oil into the bowl with the warm water and mix gently with a spoon or other stirring implement. Then place your face over the bowl so that your skin is exposed to the steam and essential oils floating in the air above the water.

•   Cover your head with a towel draped over both sides of the bowl to keep as much of the steam and essential oil in contact with your skin as possible.

•   Close your eyes and relax for 10-15 minutes, taking deep breaths and allowing the steam to penetrate your skin fully.

•   When the time is up, gently pat dry your face with a clean towel and remove any excess oil using a soft cloth or cotton round.

To finish off, apply a light moisturizer to lock in hydration and restore balance to the skin – you can also use an overnight mask if desired. Finally, enjoy the refreshed feeling that steaming your face with essential organic oils can provide!
